Someone has kindly informed us this tool is similar to a cork borer they used to use to make holes in cork and rubber bungs through which one inserts glass tubing but this is not quite the same

The level is 8" long with solid brass top and brass feet in the form of a boat shaped level. The level has a hardwood stock with two bubbles.
